Dear DOMIM-aLike friends and colleagues,

The Hebrew month of Iyar is one of the most emotionally intense months in the Israeli calendar. The period of the four "Yemey T'Kuma" which start at the end of Nissan through the month of Iyar - Holocaust Memorial Day (Yom HaShoah), the Memorial Day for Fallen Soldiers (Yom Hazikaron), Israel's Independence Day (Yom HaAtzmaut), and Jerusalem Day (Yom Yerushalayim) - seem to take Israeli society each year through a roller coaster of tragedy and victory, victimhood and heroism, vision and routine, past, present and future. The themes and myths that accompany "Yemey T'Kuma" are at the heart of every public discourse in Israel year round.

This Year, in which we marks 50 years to the 1967 war, will intensify even more the complexities that arise from the month of Iyar.

In our upcoming DOMIM-pre-convention Kallah, preceding WUPJ's Connection 2017 Convention, we will hold a tour dedicated to the intricacies of life in Jerusalem in the face of 50 years to '67. The tour will be guided by Dr. Ilan Ezrachi, who has recently published a book on the subject called “Sane in its Own Dreams: Jerusalem 1967-2017″ (Hebrew).

We invite you to join us for the DOMIM-Kallah on May 16-17.

You are also invited to a special international webinar for the month of Iyar, which was initiated by WRJ’s Israel Education and Advocacy Committee and their DOMIM-aLike Israeli partners.
The webinar will be held on May 7, 1:00 PM in Eastern Time (US and Canada)

"Words With a View"
 A Series of Documentaries
about Israeli Veteran Poets and Writers
syria
'Words with a View’ is a series of documentary films about prominent veteran authors and poets in Israel, created by Omri Lior - an Israeli documentarist and member of Kehillat 'Sulam Ya'akov' in Zichron Ya'akov.

The personal interviews with the writers, most of them belong to "Dor Tashach" ('generation 1948' - i.e. the builders of the state of Israel), assemble an intimate perspective of Israel's history, culture and creative spirit in its first decades.

Omri Lior travels across the world and holds screenings and lectures in many Jewish communities.

Meet Israeli Reform Rabbis:
Rabbi Edgar Nof
____________...
"Every year I visit at least 10 different Reform Temples in the US. I always learn from their amazing creativity and their firm covenant with the Jewish Tradition and its need for constant renewal...
I wish to grant you the opportunity to spend quality time with members of Reform Congregations in Israel. I am convinced that interacting with the pioneers of Reform Judaism in Israel will cause a much deeper impact than any archaeological site".

Rabbi Edgar Nof is rabbi of Kehillat 'Natan-Ya' in Netanya.
