גוף האדם על חלקיו השונים מסקרן את עולם האמנות מהתקופה הקלאסית ועד ימינו. אחת הפעולות שנצרבה בתולדות האמנות המודרנית היא כריתת האוזן של ואן גוך, מעשה טירוף שנעשה בסערת רוחות לאחר מריבה עם גוגן. את האוזן הכרותה, שותתת דם, שלח כשי מקאברי לזונה בבית בושת.
הד אמנותי לפעולה יצרית ובלתי נשלטת זו, הפך בשנות ה-60 חלק בלתי נפרד מעבודות הגוף והמיצג במיוחד אצל אמנים כמו ברוס ניומן, ויטו אקונצ'י ואחרים.
חלקי גוף ובמיוחד חלקי פנים שימשו את הסוריאליסטים ליצירות אבסורד ופנטזיות דמיוניות. בסרט האיקוני כלב אנדלוסי (1929,1929Un Chien Andalou), דאלי ובוניואל חותכים גלגל עין באמצעות תער מושחז, כמחזה ביעותים, חלום בלהות, וכניסיון לזעזע את הצופה הבורגני של התקופה. שפתיה של שחקנית הקולנוע מיי ווסט הפכו אצל דאלי לספה נחשקת, שחיקויים לה ניתן לראות גם כיום לצד כפות ידיים שהפכו לכורסאות, ועוד רעיונות מקאבריים שהפכו את הגוף לחומר לגיטימי ביצירת האמנות העכשווית.
רות נועם מצטרפת לקבוצה מכובדת זו באמנות העכשווית כשהאוזן, כמו אצל הסוריאליסטים, היא פרוידיאנית. היא חלק מהראש ומהווה תעלה אל הנפש, התודעה והלא מודע." © אריה ברקוביץ'

Fine-tuning, attentive listening, and searching fill the exhibition space in Ruth Noam’s No Storm in Sight
The initial sensation is one of disruption. Can a small black pool and a floor installation of enlarged ears be a threatening landscape? What is the meaning of the terrible amputation, cutting off the organ of hearing from the head and heart, from understanding, and emotions? Is the water in the pool toxic? Perhaps the water was struck by in the same catastrophe that shrunk humans - to an ear, to pure obedience
The ears, cast in industrial polymers and looking like actual flesh, are installed on the floor. They are of uniform size, in a range of skin tones like monuments to lost entities. A closer look shows them to be connected with electrical wire, forming a colony that can propagate and spread. . Their vibrations could be breaths or perhaps end-of-life spasms. © Dr. Smadar Sheffi

The event will take place at the end of June in several spots downtown with the participation of jewelry designers/makers, artists, schools and galleries. Through a series of exhibitions, actions, performances, lectures and workshops, the audience will have the chance to follow a particular route in the city and discover the contemporary trend of jewelry by Greek artists who use the body and its adornment as their “canvas” and who consider jewelry as a form of art. This way, the event hopes to offer its visitors a break from their tough daily routine through the power of creativity, culture and interactivity

Under the wire - What is the significance of threads, strings, ropes, and wires in our lives, and what is their function? Who stands on either side of the rope and who at each end? When do threads combine to become a network – or a tangle? © Daniella Shalev
The idea of the thread of life is rooted in the Fates, the three sister-goddesses of Greek mythology
Clotho spins the thread of life for all mortals before birth, determining the nature of their lives, and the place of each thread in the tapestry of life. Lachesis measures the length of each thread to decide each person’s life-span, and assists him or her through all the obstacles her sister has woven for them. Atropos cuts each thread according to her sister’s measurements, and chooses how each mortal will die
According to this story, every person has an unchangeable thread of fate, but does not know what kind of thread it is, or when it will break or be cut
© .Thus they understood that mortals do not have any power over their own threads; for if they did, they would never die

החוט המשולש - מהי משמעות החוטים והחבלים בחיינו ומה תפקידם?
מי עומד משני צדי החבל ומי בשני קצותיו? ומתי חוברים החוטים יחד ומשתלבים לרשת או לסבך? דניאלה שלו ©
החוט כפתיל החיים או חוט הגורל מעוגן בסיפור העתיק מן המיתולוגיה היוונית המספר על שלוש אלות הגורל שהיו אחיות. האחת (קלוֹתוֹ) טווה את חוט החיים של כל אדם לפני לידתו, כלומר קובעת את אופי חייו וטווה את גורלו בתוך מארג החיים. השנייה (לאכּסיס) קוצבת את אורכו של החוט בסרט מידה ומעבירה את האדם דרך כל המכשולים הגורליים שאחותה ארגה בשבילו. והשלישית (אטרטפוס)
גוזרת אות החוט לפי האורך שקבעה אחותה ומחליטה על אופן מותו.
לפי סיפור זה, לכל אדם חוט הגורל שלו שאין ביכולתו לשנותו, והוא אינו יודע איזה מין חוט הוא ומתי ייקרע או ייגזר. מכאן מובן, שהאדם אינו מופקד על חוטו שלו, שאם כן, לא היה מת לעולם.

Each one of us undergoes many transformations in life. I have been through two. In my first ‘incarnation’ I was taking pictures with my eyes and recording them in my brain. In the second, I used a camera. Someone said to me once that I photograph with the eyes of my heart
In 1980 I moved to the United Kingdom and used it as a base for my long and extensive photographic expeditions all over the world. I absorbed everything I saw. Initially I used my eyes only, but soon after I recorded my experiences with my camera

כל רגע מחיי הוא חלום.
כל אדם עובר גילגולים רבים ושונים בחייו. אני עברתי שניים. בראשון, צילמתי עם העיניים. בשני, לקחתי מצלמה לידיי.
אמרו לי פעם שאני "מצלמת בעיניים של הלב", אולי זה בגלל שכך באמת אני רואה?
ב-1980 עברתי לגור תקופה ממושכת באנגליה, ומשם יצאתי לגיחות צילום ארוכות ברחבי העולם. בלעתי את כל שראיתי, כאמור, תחילה בעיניי בלבד ובמהרה הנצחתי את חוויותי במצלמה.

מתגורר ויוצר בעמק חפר. גוב ארי שהה שש שנים ביפן, שם למד והתמחה בדוג'ו המרכזי לאייקידו יושינקאן בטוקיו. עם חזרתו מיפן, מזה עשרים שנה, הוא יוצר פסלים מברזל, חרבות, להבים וכלי עבודה בדרכי עשייה מסורתיות המשלבות בתוכן תורות מהמזרח הרחוק ומארצות אירופה. בין החומרים העיקריים מהם הוא מייצר, ברזל, פלדה, ברונזה, נחושת, עץ ואבנים חצי יקרות אותן הוא משבץ ביצירותיו.
אמנותו היא דרך חיים הניזונה מהטבע ויסודותיו, מעגלים מיתולוגיים, מחקר היסטורי, ודרך פנימית.

Ukiyo-e is a generic name for wood cut prints done in Japan beginning in the 16th century. איוריה של אפרת בלומברג עדינים וסודיים. הם נבראו לא כדי לתאר את הטבע והמציאות, אולי כדי לשרטט מחשבה והרהור על עולם המזין את עצמו . הם קשורים לאזורי החלימה , מתארים מערכת אורגנית של קרחונים, חיות, עצים ואנשים ומתייחסים לכוח המשיכה ולמרחב הזמן.
ציורי העולם הצף 浮世絵 – אוקיו-אה , הוא שם כולל להדפסים מחיתוכי עץ שנעשו ביפן החל מהמאה ה-16 ותיארו באופן הומאני עולם הדוניסטי וסגנון חיים בורגני של רובע התענוגות ודייריו: נשים, שחקני קבוקי, לוחמי סומו ובליינים. הם תיארו גם בתי תה, סוחרים ונופים וביקשו להנציח בעבודתם את היופי החמקמק ובר החלוף של עולם התענוגות. מקור השם אוקיו –אה הוא במונח הבודהיסטי אוקיו- המתאר את העולם כמקום ארעי של סבל. © איילת השחר כהן

מתוך ארכיון התצלומים והתשלילים העצום של מיכה בר-עם, המטופח על ידי שותפתו לחיים ארנה, אפשר להרכיב תערוכות רבות, וכל אחת תביא משהו חדש שלא נראה קודם לכן..
מדרך הטבע, תערוכתו במוזיאון הימי הלאומי מתמקדת בקבוצות של תצלומים שיש להם זיקה ברורה לים ולמה שמתקשר אליו. החל מסצנות בנמל חיפה המתארות את מפגשם הראשון עם הארץ של העולים החדשים שהגיעו באניות בראשית שנות החמישים ובמקביל - פועלי נמל וסוורים בנמל, דרך תאורי דייג בצפון סיני מסוף שנות השישים וכלה במראות מגוונים לאורך חופי הים. מלבד אלה מוצגים כאן תצלומים ללא הקשרים לנושאים ספציפיים שכל אחד מהם עומד לעצמו בזכות ייחודיות של נקודת מבט, קומפוזיציה בעלת עניין, או הקשר לאירוע מסוים. © אברהם אילת
מיכה בר-עם – צלם, חתן פרס ישראל לאמנות, 2000, מבכירי הצלמים במדינת ישראל ובעל מוניטין בינלאומי. יוצר ופועל בתחום הצילום בארץ קרוב לשישים שנה. נולד בברלין בשנת 1930 ועלה ארצה עם משפחתו בשנת 1936 . שירת בפלמ"ח ובצה"ל והשתתף במלחמת השחרור ובפריצת הדרך לירושלים. מצלמתו מנציחה דמויות, מצבים ומוקדים של עניין ציבורי.
עבודותיו נמצאות באוספים ובתצוגות קבע במוזיאונים נחשבים בארץ ובעולם.

For obvious reasons, his exhibition at the national Maritime Museum focuses on a group of photographes that have a clear connection with the sea, with what goes on, in and around it: From scenes of Haifa
Port, capturing the first sight of the Land for new immigrants arriving by ship in erly 1950s, to the port workers and stevedores of that time, and fishing along Sinai shore in the late 1960s, as well as a veriety of views all along the coast. Those presented in the exhibition have no connection in regard to subject. Each of them is discrete due to its unique viewpoint, interesting composition, or connection with a specific event. © Avraham Eilat

An artist's intuition, a master, guided Moti Nataf's skilled hand - a hand that knows the secrets of material, sensitive and professional - towards a personal, ongoing and developing dialog
Years of hard work on fishing and sail boats near the sea, combined with an understanding of material, functionality, and behavior in the marine environment, and with acknowledgment of the importance of the visual and
aesthetics, led Moti to a fascinating artistic expression.
Nataf developed the lighthouse theme, with differing yet complimentary materials and proportionality, into a personal statement equal to a reflection on his life. Each lighthouse was treated to a personalfacade as a lighter of the way and of a warning of danger. "אינטואיציית אמן, רב אומן, הובילה את ידיו המיומנות של מוטי נטף, היודעות רזי חומרים, חושית ומקצועית, לידי דו שיח אישי מתמשך ומתפתח.
שנים רבות של עבודת כפיים בקרבת הים, בגופי כלי שיט, ספינות דייג ומפרשיות, תוך הבנת המטרייה, הפונקציה, ההתנהגות במרחב ימי, בשילוב החשיבות האסתטית החזותית, הובילו את מוטי לביטוי אמנותי מרתק.
נטף פיתח את מוטיב המגדלור, בחומריות ובפרופורציות משתנות ומשולבות, לכדי אמירה אישית השווה להשקפת חייו. כל מגדלור קיבל חזותית אישיות משל עצמו כמאיר דרך כמזהיר בפני שרטון.
קיבוץ המגדלורים אומרת כיוונים, צמתים, בחירות ותהיות על מגדלורי הים האיתנים לעומת מגדלורי החיים הדינמים.
