In order to finish off the time there in a good way on Friday 17th of June the Shnatties organized a Latin American afternoon with good food and great music for all the Kibbutznikim to enjoy!

Shnat Australia/New Zealand

The Australian New Zealand and South African shnatties have wrapped up their kibbutz period and bud farewell to all of the wonderful courses on shorashim and the special lifestyle and atmosphere of kibbutz Ein HaShofet for the city living of Haifa. For the past month the group has been living in two houses in the diverse hadar haCarmel neighborhood. Their days have been filled with meaningful educational missions and volunteer frameworks with schools, youth clubs, at risk youth frameworks, kenimHabo’s sister movement HaNoar HaOved HaLomed, day camps, sleep away camps. In addition to this hadracha experience and development the group, with guidance from their madrichim, have taken over more and more responsibility for their own living, cooking cleaning and collective culture all whilst continuing their educational process about the movements values and role in Israeli society today, something in which they encounter and have the chance to participate in and shape each day in real time.

Last weekend we went on our yearly Mayweekend (as per tradition in June) with a record 160 chaveriem! This weekend was extra special since we had a four-day weekend instead of a three-day weekend. It was like we were on a minimachanee. On the way back home, one of the buses with the children caught fire! This caused a little delay, but the madrichiem handled it very well and the chanichiem were brought to a nearby McDonalds where they received free ice cream and candy. It was an amazing weekend and we are now preparing for our next activity: Zomermachanee!

On Friday 3rd of June, our Shnatties from Australia, New Zealand, Uruguay and Brazil had an event for Shavuot at Kibbutz Givat Haim Ihud. The event was organized by Member of Knesset Ram Shefa from the Labor (Avoda) Party. It consisted of typical Shavuot-learning sessions as well as some good cheesy snacks and food. Of course we had a photo-opportunity with the Minister of Transportation Merav Michaeli, Minister of Diaspora Affairs Nachman Shai, Head of the World Zionist Organization Department of Zionist Activities Silvio Josckowicz and MK Ram Sheffa. It was a great event and a good taster for more political educational activities to come.
