Announcing the Nazareth Center for Peace Studies
rrr
Dear ,

Salaam from Nazareth.

We are delighted to announce the formation of the Nazareth Center for Peace Studies, a nonprofit organization, physically and symbolically located in Nazareth, the hometown of Jesus, the ultimate Peacemaker.
Why a peace center?
Living in a context characterized by political and religious division and recurrent tension, conflict prevention and transformation have become essential and urgent need. After working for over a decade as a public prosecutor, I realized that a traditional legal system gives limited solutions since it deals with conflict symptoms. But a new approach is needed. The Nazareth Center for Peace Studies seeks solutions beginning with the root cause of conflict.
What is the center’s vision and mission?
To equip participants to become peacemakers and bridgebuilders in their communities, through whom society may be transformed towards peace and justice, rooted in the teachings of Christ.

How does the center accomplish its mission?
Through learning that focuses on transformations in attitudes and beliefs, and fosters learning for service.

Through training that equips participants with tools to engage in their communities to multiply the impact.

Through research first-hand experience of conflict and peacemaking to learn the conditions which create and sustain peace.

Through transformative learning, training and research, peacemakers are empowered and prepared to work within the challenges of our context equipping them with tools to be salt and light in their very own environment.
