Dear Friends,
It is our pleasure to launch the mid-year, June 2021 newsletter, with updates and stories from and about Israel and Australia.
The past few weeks have had dramatic events followed in Israel and the middle east. Israel completed an 11 days military operation in Gaza, targeting Hamas military capabilities and installations following an eruption of violence, which started in Jerusalem.
It also concluded the rounds of discussions towards forming a new Israeli government, where the leaders of the opposition bloc were successful and came to terms, agreeing on a new Israeli government, which will stitch together the polar opposite of Israeli society and politics – into a coalition government.
Israel also entirely returned to pre-Covid routine after cancelling altogether social restrictions of gathering and assembling the past week, as the vaccine rollout campaign continued to be very successful and the numbers of new infections dropped to record low levels.
While all this is going on, without a dull moment in this part of the world, the Israeli economy has also shown signs of a quick recovery, bouncing back to pre-Covid figures with plummeting percentages of unemployment and prices and salaries soaring up.
As a result, in this newsletter, we decided to focus on agriculture technologies and food-tech, the prospect of the future of travel and tourism - certainly one of the most hard-hit industries globally in the past year and a half of a global pandemic.
We are also preparing for the MWC exhibition at the end of June in Barcelona, Spain, taking place after a year break on the floor as well as online. As with every year during the show, telecommunication technologies will be on display and new products will be launched. At MWC Barcelona, 13 Israeli companies will exhibit and hold business meetings both in-person and virtually.
With all this happening, we wish you an interesting read and a pleasant weekend.
