IATI Is A Co-Founder Of Israel 2048 Council

IATI CEO Karin Mayer Rubinstein and IATI Co-Chair Erez Tsur participated at the Israel 2048 conference which IATI Co-Founded. "Israel 2048 – Shared Future" program is working with more than 200 organizations and experts to formulate a plan that will transform Israel from a country with a single center and a periphery, into a country with three large centers. As a Co-Founder, IATI is proud to lead projects related to the preparation of the future society, education, vocational training, human diversity and the advancement of the periphery. We thank Roni flamer who led the initiative.

Special Meeting of IATI VC Committee

In August, dozens of leading venture capital fund managers of our VC Committee, along with the leaders of our Legal & Accounting Committee, gathered for a special meeting concerning the preliminary approvals for foreign VC investors. The attendants discussed the Israeli Tax Authority's upfront tax rulings to VC funds with foreign investors, based on Section 16A of the Income Tax Ordinance.

IATI Leads Initiative To Make Eilat
A Marine Ag-tech Capital

IATI  keeps promoting the Israeli advanced industries and proudly announces a new step to strengthen the southern periphery: following our request, PM Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu announced in a government meeting in Eilat a plan to make Eilat a marine ag-tech cpital. IATI called the PM to turn Israel Oceanographic and Limnological Research (IOLR) into an independent governmental company which will include next to R&D unit, business and marketing units to promote cooperation with the private sector. Public-private sector cooperation will help realizing the vast potential in this innovative sector, and position Israel as a global leader in it.
IATI held a kick-off meeting with top representatives of IOLR, Ministry of Agriculture, and leading industry representatives who are IATI members: among them Michal Shalem of Let's Grow Israel, Nitza Kardish of Trendlines, Tal Band of S.Horowitz & Co. and Capital Nature's Anat Tsour Segal. We thank MK Nir Barkat for initiating.
WIPO's Main Panel Hosts IATI CEO In Geneva

IATI CEO & President Karin Mayer Rubinstein participated at the opening panel of the 2019 WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) Event in Geneva. The panel, hosted by WIPO Director General Prof. Francis Gurry, focused on the impact of AI on the IP system and IP policy, and Karin featured the Israeli AI sector and major players. Other Panel Members were Andrei Iancu, Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO); and Zeng Zhihua, Director General, China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA), Automation Department, Beijing. Ambassador of Israel to the United Nations in Geneva Aviva Raz Shechter, and Minister (commercial Affairs) and Deputy Permanent Representative of Israel to the WTO Yair Shiran also attended the Conference. Wipo is a self-funding agency of the United Nations, with 192 member states, whose purpose is to lead the development of a balanced and effective international IP system. As the voice of the Israeli innovative industry, IATI keeps close connections with global policy makers.  
IATI Stands For Political & Economical Stability, At The Shade of 2nd Elections 
In a special letter signed by tens of Industry leaders, IATI called its members to do everything they can in order to vote at the 2nd 2019 Israeli elections, and to its employer members to allow their employees to vote even if that means cancelling work related journeys abroad.

In May, IATI called against having 2nd elections. "Political instability means economic instability,” said Erez Tsur, IATI co-chair.

IATI Signs a Strategic Cooperation Agreement
in Nanjing Jiangning District, China
IATI has signed last week a strategic cooperation agreement in China, during the Nanjing Techweek 2019 Conference held in China's Jiangzhou Province, in the presence of 4 Israeli and world wide Nobel laureates in economy, physics and chemistry. The cooperation will be expressed in promoting and strengthening the economic relationship in the field of innovation between the two countries. IATI CEO Karin Mayer Rubinstein and IATI Co-Chair Erez Tsur signed the agreement, with Zhang Huiqi, the Director of Nanjing Jiangning Development Zone Administration Committee, and Li Shigui, the General Director of Nanjing Jiangning District. IATI will keep strengthening the Israeli ecosystem's ties with Chinese industries.

IATI Leads A Visit To Spectronics
At Gaza Envelope

IATI led a 1-day tour in Gaza envelope, visiting the local R&D center of Spectronics Israel. The attendees were given an overview on the state of innovation in the geographical area. Chief scientist Dr. Amy Appelbaum participated in the event. IATI works to promote innovation in the geographical periphery, allowing for a more widespread allocation of hi-tech resources for the benefit of Israeli society. We thank Amy Appelbaum and Spectronics General Manager Tal Laufer.

Biotech Forum In Basel

Karin Mayer Rubinstein, IATI President & CEO, gave the keynote speech at the prestigious Sachs BEF 2019 Conference - the 19th Annual Biotech in Europe Forum for Global Partnering & Investment. Karin talked about the way Israel is  becoming a "Biotech Nation”, and described the unique cooperation between private and public sectors, which helps Israeli innovation thrive.

IATI Co-Chair Erez Tsur in a special TheMarker opinion piece: The investments of institutional investors in high-tech are on the rise. The State must encourage this trend and solve current problematic laws which discriminate against Israeli capital. Governmental steps, combining new amendments with an open dialogue, will help increase the public's share in tech investments and allow better allocation on the sector's growth.

IATI CEO Karin Mayer Rubinstein met with a delegation of leading Finnish VC fund partners. Karin gave the delegation an overview of the Israeli venture capital industry, and discussed possible ways of future cooperation. Quarterly Meeting

IATI's Legal & Accounting Committee had its quarterly meeting. The participants discussed the recent updates concerning the taxing issues of high-tech and life science industries, and trends of local and global regulation regarding large scale companies and start-ups. The participants agreed on action items to be carried out this quarter. IATI steadily works to promote all levels of the ecosystem and encourage Israeli innovation. We thank the Committee members and EY who hosted.

At its quarterly meeting, IATI's Education Work group discussed the ongoing national project of STEM education which IATI is involved in. Representatives of The Ministry Of Education attended the meeting and presented recent advancements in the field in the last quarter. 
IATI keeps initiating and being involved in promoting tech education as well as tech HR training, for the benefit of the Industry and Israeli society.

The IATI MNC Forum HR Workgroup gathered today for its quarterly meeting and discussed trends in the future labor market. The workgroup also discussed encouragement program for the employment of Arab Israelis. IATI keeps searching for new ways to promote sustainable tech education and diversity in the Israeli ecosystem. Karin shared the currents state in the Industry regarding investments, VC funds, encouragment of institutional investors, HR training and more.
