IATI Proudly Welcomes Its Newly Elected Board of Directors
IATI Proudly welcomes its newly elected Board of Directors, reflecting all sub-sectors and layers of Israeli advanced technologies. Erez Tsur will keep serving as Co-Chair (High-Tech) and Yaacov Michlin was elected as Co-Chair (Life Science).

We warmly thank outgoing Co-Chair Yaky Yanay for his great contribution to IATI and Israeli life science sector.

With Erez and Yaacov and 29 new and proceeding board members, and with CEO & President Karin Mayer Rubinstein, IATI keeps more than ever serving its members, the Israeli Industry and community, and promote innovation, co-operation and diversity within the local and global ecosystem.

The 6th IATI MNC Forum Annual Conference

Over 100 Israeli General Managers of R&D centers gathered for our 6th IATI MNC Forum Annual Meeting, presented new data and discussed with policy makers our shared vision for Israel's tech future: tech training projects, diverse tech work market and more.

We thank the keynote speakers: Aharon Aharon, Innovation Authority CEO; Moti Elisha, Director of Employment Regulation and Senior Deputy Director General Ministry of Labor; Prof. Yaffa Zilbershats, Chair of Planning and Budgeting Committee, Council for Higher Education; and Einav Aharoni-Yonas, CEO Joint Israel-Tevet. We thank the speakers and panel members of IATI's Haredim in High-Tech Committee: Prof. Avi Weiss, Natan Kandler, Moshe Friedman, Yitzik Crombie and Sari Kroizer.

We thank our partners in all the government ministries who cooperate with us all through the year on keeping Israel's global lead in the high-tech and life science fields. Thank you Dell EMC for hosting the event and our sponsors HFN and TMF.

Globes-Tech and IATI cooperated to create Israel's Top Start-Ups List! This special annual project features leading companies and their breakthrough innovations, as selected by 50 IATI member VC funds. On December 2nd, 2018, the selected start-ups were announced in a festive event, with IATI Co-Chair (High-Tech) Erez Tsur who congratulated.

The 6th IATI MNC Forum Annual Hackathon - EdTech

This year, the 6th annual IATI MNC Hackathon was themed Education Tech. Top developers from 10 Israeli R&D centers met and collaborated in mixed groups at this globally unique IATI event. We congratulate the winning team, Play Ground, and thank the teams for their great team spirit and comprehensive ideas. 
We warmly thank the participating MNCs: AT&T, Corning, eBay, Google, Intuit, Marvell, Micro Focus, Motorola, RedHat, and Siemens. Many thanks to the industry mentors and to Ms. Ayelet Gradman. See you at next year's IATI hackathon!

IATI Committee for Haredim in High-tech

In its quarterly meeting, IATI's Committee for Haredim in High-Tech hosted representatives of The Ministry of Labour and Social Services. Shira Berliner, Roei Levanon and Shir Peri of the Ministry presented data and discussed issues concerning the various Haredi HR training tracks. We thank Achim Global for hosting.
IATI MNC HR Work Group Quarterly Meeting

IATI MNC Forum's HR Work Group met for its quarterly meeting, and shared best practices of positioning Israeli R&D centers within the global corporations. Adv. Michael Ayalon, Partner at Gornitzky & Co., presented updates in the field of labor law. We thank Cisco who hosted.

IATI Reached Understanding with Tax Authority about Preliminary Approval for Foreign VCs

IATI has been working closely with the Israeli Tax Authority on the issue of Preliminary Approvals for Foreign Investors, in order to widen the tax exemption of foreign residents and allow a more extensive deal flow. 
Some important milestones were achieved so far, and IATI will continue to co-work with the Tax Authority on setting new laws and regulations concerning this matter.

EdStart Program Celebrates End of 1st Class

The 1st class finals of teachers' tech training program, EdStart, Bottom-Up Innovation, took place in October 2018. The Program is co-conducted by Ministry of Education, IATI, Digital Israel and Tasiyeda, and it operates a unique incubator for tech-pedagogy combined initiatives. IATI's STEM Project Manager Roni Alfassi Goldberger congratulated the Program's teacher-entrepreneurs.
We thank Ofer Rimon of the Ministry of Education and wish good luck to the Program's 2nd class!
The Program for Promoting Girls in Tech

IATI's project of promoting girls in tech started out in November with a brain storming meeting. The Project is run by IATI and Sheatufim's 5pi2 Initiative. Shahar Bar-Or, Head of IATI MNC Education Work Group, opened the  meeting.

Ukrainian Israeli Innovation Summit 2018

IATI CEO & President Karin Mayer Rubinstein participated in a panel about Government and Innovations at the Ukrainian Israeli Innovation Summit 2018. Karin described the Israeli best practices of encouraging early stage innovations through governmental channels. The panel included Liliya Hrynevych, Ukrainian Minister of Education and Science; Mikhail Titarchuk, Deputy Minister of Economic Development & Trade of Ukraine; Volodymyr Stavniuk, Head of the institution for innovation at the Ukrainian Ministry of Economic Development & Trade; Joel Lion, Israeli Ambassador to Ukraine; and Hennadii Nadolenko, Ukrainian Ambassador to Israel. The panel was moderated by Dr. Eitan Lasri, Etgar Strategic Solutions CEO. Among the Israeli participants were Yossi Vardi and IATI Board Member Yuval Tal. Click for more info.
IATI CEO Represents Israel at Open Innovations 2018 in Moscow, Signs MOU with Skolkovo

IATI CEO & President Karin Mayer Rubinstein represented Israeli advanced technologies at the 7th Moscow International Forum for Innovative Development "Open Innovations" last week – a conference which was attended by over 20,000 people. Karin participated in a panel about the balance of the state and private capital, and discussed the Israeli case of creating an public-private ecosystem. In the 2nd day of the Conference Karin signed an MOU with the Skolkovo Foundation, for bilateral locating of opportunities for tech companies. We look forward to a successful partnership.

During the powerful Taiwan Healthcare+ Expo and Conference, IATI signed an MOU for mutual cooperation with the Taiwanese IBMI (Institue for Biotechnology and Medicine Industry) - an organization which represents Taiwan biomedical and healthcare communities. The MOU was signed by IATI CEO & President Karin Mayer Rubinstein, and IBMI President Jin-Pyng Wang. We are looking forward to locating business development opportunities for the benefit of Israeli life science industry,
The First Trilateral Israel-Greece-Cyprus Business Forum

IATI CEO Karin Mayer Rubinstein moderated a panel on cross border cooperation in innovation and trade, at the First Trilateral Israel-Cyprus Business Forum 2018, which took place in the end of December on the occasion of the 5th Heads Of States Summit. The panel members were Konstantinos Michalos , President, Union of Hellenic Chambers & Deputy President, EUROCHAMBRES; Dr. Panayiotis Philimis, President, Cyprus Association of Research and Innovation Enterprises; and Oren Simanian, Founder and former CEO, Star TAU. The forum was held in the presence of Ms. Natasa Pilides, Cypriot Deputy Minister of Shipping.

IATI CEO Present Our Human Capital Report
at the Employers' Forum

IATI CEO Karin Mayer Rubinstein presented our report on humen resources in the Israeli advaned industry, at the Employers' Forum of Ministry of Employment and Israeli Innovation Authority. The report, initiated and conducted by SNC and IATI, aims to create a better understanding of the sources of lack of skilled HR in Israel and to help build effective plans as to challenge this lack. 

The meeting included Aharon Aharon, Innovation Authority CEO; Avi Simhon, Head of the National Economic Council; Michal Tzuk, Director of Employment Regulation in the Ministry of Labor; and Naomi Krieger-Carmi, Head of the Social Challenges Division at the Authority. We thank SNC for the co-work on the report.

A First IATI Position Paper Supports U.S. Tax Reform Impact, Presented to the Tax Authority

Due to the High Court's recent ruling, which makes significant decisions regarding the taxation of workers in Israel, IATI held an urgent closed meeting of the IATI MNC Forum. Following the meeting, it was agreed that IATI would meet with representatives of the Tax Authority, with the aim of changing the policy. IATI's position is that the lowered U.S. tax rate could push companies to set up shop in the U.S instead of in Israel.

IATI and Ministry of Education's Youth Start-Up Championship

The Youth Start-Up Championship of Ministry of Education and IATI took place in March - the winners, chosen out of 1,200 participants from all over Israel, presented their innovations to leading industry and investment top executives.  We thank Ofer Rimon form the Ministry of Education and Taasiyeda. 

IATI Co-Leads Israeli Start-Up Delegation to a B2B Conference in Puglia, Italy

Over 100 Italian ICT and Biotech start-ups asked to inquire about Israeli ecosystem and IATI, and over 300 Italian-Israeli B2B meeting were held, in a special conference in the Italian region Puglia. The official Israeli delegation to the conference, sponsored by the Italian Trade Agency and co-selected with IATI, visited innovative companies in Puglia, in order to evaluate future bilateral co-operations. The B2B event was held in the presence of Ms. Sharon Kabalo, Minister Counselor for Economic and Scientific Affairs of the Israeli Embassy in Rome, and managed by IATI's team.
