,Dear Clients and Friends
Several weeks ago, the Israeli Ministry of Justice announced a substantive reform in the rules of Israeli civil procedure, due to enter into force in September 2019, in order to adapt them to the modern era and to expedite the adjudication of civil cases.
As part of the aforementioned reform, the Israeli Ministry of Justice has most recently enacted an amendment to the existing Civil Procedure regulations, that enters into force certain portions of the reform with immediate effect. One such portion is the reform of Regulation 500 of the Civil Procedure Regulations, which governs extraterritorial service of process.
Attached is a newsletter, providing a general overview of Regulation 500 and the rules governing extraterritorial service of process and detailing the pending reform and its potential implications.
