Shalom!

A new year is upon us, bringing new and old challenges and opportunities to positively impact Israeli society. As the home of Collective Impact in Israel, we will continue to advance three cross-sector initiatives, based on the infrastructure we laid last year: the
TOP15 initiative to promote excellence in science and technology education, the initiative to reduce intimate partner violence, and the initiative to create systemic solutions for improving the wellbeing of the elderly.

The establishment of a school of excellence for senior staff in local government is currently underway - a first-of-its-kind collaboration between the Ministry of the Interior, the Yad Hanadiv Foundation and with Sheatufim, as the organization responsible for the planning, establishment, and execution of the project.

This year, we will continue to develop practical knowledge and tools for collaborative action, and expand our library of knowledge about collaborative processes, which is open and accessible to all. And as always, we will continue learning and teaching in our
Studio of Collaborative Processes

Here is a brief glimpse of what's going on,

Wishing you a happy new year,
Sheatufim Team

Collaborating with the National Program for Promoting Excellence and Innovation

Last June, about 130 representatives of the initiative's network of partners met to celebrate the alliance of forces for a new mission - to position Israel as one of the 15 leading countries in the world in the quality of science and technology education. Representatives from all sectors - the Ministry of Education, education organizations, the business sector, the IDF, philanthropy and academia – sat down together to share their experience and knowledge from the field. The network of partners expanded recently to include new government representatives, leading funds and leaders from the business sector.

Joining the 'National Program for Promoting Excellence and Innovation': A joint program comprising the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, was born in response to the current employment crisis in the Israeli high-tech industry. In order to meet the government's goal of raising the proportion of employees in high-tech professions from 10% to 15% within five years, it is necessary to add computer programming to the “core subjects” of the education system. Following an approach by government ministries, the TOP15 initiative is formulating a plan which will be presents to the government.

This year's work groups will focus on strengthening skills and motivation for scientific and technological excellence, and on promoting excellence in Arab society. For more updates see the
our website.

The Initiative to Reduce Intimate Partner Violence - The First Partners Conference

In the first week of August, some 100 representatives of public, social, business, academic and philanthropic organizations overcame the challenges of the weather and the Corona epidemic and got together to begin the initiative to reduce Intimate Partner violence. The was dedicated to defining the common goals and objectives of the initiative, which would significantly contribute to changing the situation in Israel. We engaged a variety of perspectives and areas of knowledge, for the purpose of developing a local index for assessing the extent of the phenomenon in Israel.

The initiative is based on a knowledge review on
"Femicide and Gender Based Violence in th Family - A Review of Systemic Action in Israel," written in Sheatufim in 2019 in partnership with over 20 social organizations. Since the beginning of 2021, many organizations have joined the network of partners. A broad and diverse steering committee was built and data was surveyed, from Israel and abroad to serve as a basis for the initiative's activities. See our website for more about the initiative.

Quality of Life and Loneliness in Old Age: From Establishment  to Collaborative Planning

The Collective Impact initiative to address the issue of quality of life and loneliness in old age, is progressing from the set-up phase to joint planning. Over the past year, we have focused on three main efforts: Surveying the field for the purpose of learning and harnessing potential partners; Research work to build a knowledge and data infrastructure for joint action; Structuring the initiative and building milestones for creating partnerships.

To date, about 70 partners have joined the initiative. Last July, the first meeting of the leadership team took place. The team is scheduled to meet again in October and set the boundaries of the initiative. In November 2021, the first plenary meeting of the partner network will be held, and immediately after that, the vision of the initiative will be formulated and its goals will be determined.
