Shalom!

After such a complex year, this spring holiday brings with it a breeze of optimism and action. We at Sheatufim, the home of
Collective Impact in Israel, are currently leading three cross-sector initiatives that deal with root problems in Israeli society: one in the field of excellence in science-technology education, the second in the field of gender-based domestic violence and the third which focuses on creating systemic solutions which combat loneliness and improve the quality of life of the aged population. In addition, we continue to share our knowledge and experience in the framework of The Studio for Collaborative Social Processes.
We are pleased to share with you some samples of our activities.

Wishing you health and happiness on this Passover,

Sheatufim Team

Promoting scientific-technological excellence - now in middle schools

The 5X2 Initiative is launching a new mission under a new name and brand - Top15, which will work to strengthen the skills required to promote excellence in STEM subjects in middle school. Our goal is to rank Israel as one of the 15 leading countries in the world in scientific and technological excellence, with an emphasis on providing equal opportunities for students in the periphery and among unique populations.

The Corona crisis has given renewed validity and a sense of urgency to promoting this task. This is also illustrated by a recently published State Comptroller's report, which reveals the disparities in imparting 21st century skills in the Israeli education system. We plan to officially announce the launch of the new mission at a conference of the partner network, to be convened on May 24th.
Joining forces to reduce gender-based violence in the family

A year and a half ago, in collaboration with representatives of third sector organizations, we wrote a knowledge review on the subject of "
Murder of Women and Gender-Based Violence in the Family - Systemic Treatment in Israel." This confronted us with a serious social phenomenon, which has not diminished over time despite the responses from a variety of bodies, governmental and social. During the Corona crisis, the problem became prominent on the public agenda, and a window of opportunity was created for wide-ranging collaborations that could be produce new ways of dealing with the issue.

At the beginning of 2021, we set out to establish the first collective impact initiative of its kind in the country, to reduce gender-based violence in the family. We are currently building the cross-sector network of partners, which includes the government, philanthropy, the business sector, the social sector and researchers from academia and civil society. In the coming year, we will choose common goals that will lead to a significant change in the scope of the phenomenon and the responses provided to deal with it.
Assisting the elderly: from emergency operation to cross-sector initiative

During the first wave of the Corona epidemic, Operation
Vashamarta was launched - an emergency operation in cooperation with Zionism 2000 and other partners to prevent infection and increase the resilience of residents in geriatric institutions in Israel. The initial analysis of the problem led us to the conclusion that despite the current actions in the field, coordinated and joint cross-sector action is required to address the root issues of the problem.

At 2021 we began developing a Collective Impact initiative that will work to create systemic and cross-sector solutions to the issues of loneliness and quality of life in old age. The extensive network of partners currently being built includes the government, the business sector, the public sector, the third sector, philanthropy, academia and the community. Over the next few months, we will define the common problem and the goals derived from it, in preparation for formulating a future action plan to address the challenges.

12 Years of public participation processes in government ministries

We are currently completing a significant 12-year chapter in which we accompanied the government ministries in
public participation processes, as part of a government tender. We were privileged to accompany 10 government ministries with more than 70 public participation processes, which brought a variety of voices from the three sectors to the decision-making table.

We are pleased to be the first body in Israel to assimilate public participation in the government and to take part in changing the government and public discourse on the subject. We end our participation in this role knowing that this area has become an important and essential part of government work today.

Finally, we have recently parted ways with Inbar Hurvitz, who has served as VP of Sheatufim for the past three years, and before that led the Collective Impact model as a key strategy for social impact and the 5x2 initiative. Inbar will be replaced as VP Sheatufim by Ronen Gelshtein.

Ronen retired from the IDF after 26 years of service, with the rank of lieutenant colonel. Upon joining Sheatufim, he managed the "Magen Haim" project on behalf of the National Initiatives Fund, which led to a reduction of more than 50% in the rate of infections acquired at Sheba and Galilee hospitals. At the outbreak of the Corona epidemic, he managed the Vashamarta Operation to protect the residents of geriatric institutions.

We thank Inbar for her tremendous contribution to Sheatufim, and wish her and Ronen great success!
