Pesach_Colla...
These are the days of the Omer. The seven week countdown between Pesach and Shavuot, between liberation and commitment. This year BINA marked the birth of the Jewish people by leading Pesach seders for hundreds of young Israelis in Dharamsala, India & (for the first time!) Cusco, Peru. And we will mark the birth of the modern state of Israel with events that encourage us to take a closer look at the values upon which our nation was established, as they appear in The Declaration of Independence: "The State of Israel... will be based on freedom, justice and peace as envisaged by the prophets of Israel." (5 Iyar 5708, 14 May 1948)

Today, on Yom Hazikaron (Israeli Memorial Day) we recognize that Israel has not yet realized its dream of peace, and we continue to hope and work toward the realization of that dream, while remembering the many lives that have been lost along the way. Tomorrow we will celebrate 71 years since the establishment of the State of Israel. We will celebrate all that we have accomplished and the zechut – the privilege – we have to be able to continue to work together to fulfill the dream and vision upon which the State of Israel was built.

Chag Ha'atzmaut Sameach! Happy and meaningful Israeli Independence Day!
