Dear Friends,

One of the most powerful moments in the Purim story is when Mordechai tells Esther that she needs to use her royal connections to intercede on behalf of the Jews. Esther is justifiably petrified and points out how dangerous that would be. "If you keep silent at this time, relief and deliverance will come to the Jews from elsewhere, but you and your father’s house will perish. And who knows if it was not but for a time like this that you became a queen.”
(Esther 4:14). Tough love? Maybe.  Or maybe he was giving her the push she needed to step up, face the situation and fulfil her destiny - and she does just that. The Purim story calls to us all to stand up and take action, no matter how hard that might be. At BINA we believe in the transformative power of social action, just like Esther we can’t sit back and wait for someone else to act. We all - as individuals and as a community - have to speak out, step forward and stand up for what we believe in.  So this Purim, I hope that we can all take inspiration from Esther's strength and the courage of her convictions and each do our bit to make a difference.

Chag Purim Sameach!
